We developed their new ERP software using OpenERP (now Odoo), one of most interesting things we developed within OpenERP is around their huge number of combination products/variants (>100k), so we had to architect some tools to manage them in an easy way. I’ve been in charge of development of new feature not present in the base system.

2011We developed a custom made system to manage the virtual machines used for real time puzzle (now acquired by Gild). We created base virtual machine, developed the network environment management software, and CLI to manage the whole infrastructure. This system allows the company to evaluate system administrator skills giving access to a virtual machine in which the candidate should solve the problem as in a real production environment.

Dec 2010We installed and managed several instances of project.net for Twin Sparks. The system is Java based, uses open source middleware and Oracle database. We also implemented a personalized backup system (database, applicazione e documenti) for this infrastructure.

Dec 2007 to Oct 2010We managed Mobango datacenter, an enterprise infrastructure based on Linux servers and a mixed base of Cisco, Foundry and Dell network devices (routers, switches and load balancers).
We also worked on application development to manage user sessions (more than 200k users/day) and application troubleshooting and bug fixing.
We’ve also been working on system and low level troubleshooting and I implemented the Solr based search engine infrastructure and monitoring interfaces.

We developed a kernel module for FreeBSD to build up an IDS load balancer and OpenLDAP extensions, intranet applications to manage datacenter workflow, worked on troubleshooting and tuning on firewall/web/nfs servers with high load average and worked on internal logging platform.

Il grande fratelloWe worked as consultant for troubleshooting and service recovery for Grande Fratello (the Italian Big Brother) web site. This webfarm (web and video streaming) had millions of hits during the first launch days and it needed at first to be reengineered and then to be fine tuned. It was exciting seeing the farm filling up it's 155Mbps link to the MIX (Milan Internet eXchange) after the job was done :-)

Dec 1999 to Aug 2000Jumpy was the main product of Europortal S.p.A (Milan, Italy). This portal had lots of services and servers :-) ... to administer and take care of. We’ve been in charge of administering production and development servers. We actually worked on Solaris as main operating system and iPlanet server software. FreeBSD has been adopted to make "light" tasks such as firewalling, routing and support.
